How to choose an interior designer in Chicago

In the steps below, I will teach you how to choose an interior designer in Chicago for your specific needs. If you follow the steps below, you will be well on your way to choose the best designer you can.

Step 1: Find out what you need. Sit down with your family and determine what you need to design. Do you need a Chicago interior designer for your bathroom or your bedroom? Do you need to choose furniture or would you like the designer to work around your current furniture set-up? Write all this down on a piece of paper!

Step 2: Determine what you are looking for. This really should be part of step 1, but I wanted to include it as an additional step. Write this down on a piece of paper as well. What are your priorities? For example, maybe the first priority is the living room. Maybe you need to see carpets, furniture, wallpaper, etc. Write this down as priority level 1 so you’ll know to ask about that when you interview designers.

Step 3: Interview. Call up a few interior designers and interview them all. The key is to listen to their opinion. Ask them what they would do in this room or that room and see how creative they are. Also see how much energy they put into each answer.

Step 4: Measure character fit. You need to make sure that their personality is a fit with your personality. Maybe there is just something you cannot stand about the designer. If this is the case, you may have to weigh it out. Sometimes people do such great jobs that the person’s annoying twitch can become bearable. Remember this is the person that is going to design the house that you’ll probably live in for the next 20 years of your life so choose wisely!
