Interior designer choosing secrets

As you know interior designers can work magic and make your old home look like a an 18th century villa. But interior design is not for everybody, that's a work that needs a lot of attention and love. So when you choose your interior designer be very careful or you could end up with results you did not want. Good for you that there are some tips that can help you in correctly choosing your designer.

Where To Start

Please just don't hire the first chicago interior designer that you meet. You need to take some time and get to know some different designers and then you should compare them. First you need to know what you want, define your ending idea and your preffered style. Once you have the end in mind it's time to begin.

Get Referrals

The best marketing is the word of mouth. So be sure to find people that have nicely designed homes and ask them who was their designer. Also you could ask them if it was worth the money.

Stand Your Ground

Interior designers have a mind of their own, so don't get talked into something you don't really like. He is working for you, and not the other way around. So your decision should be final, keep that in mind at all times.

Make Your Final Choice

Now since you have all this great info it's time to follow your idea and pick your choice. When making your final choice you should balance the skill level and the price. Some designers are great, but they just aren't worth that money.

When you have made your decison it's time to get to work. Be sure to keep an eye on your designer because they all have a tendency of making things the way they like it, and not the way you like.

How to choose an interior designer in Chicago

In the steps below, I will teach you how to choose an interior designer in Chicago for your specific needs. If you follow the steps below, you will be well on your way to choose the best designer you can.

Step 1: Find out what you need. Sit down with your family and determine what you need to design. Do you need a Chicago interior designer for your bathroom or your bedroom? Do you need to choose furniture or would you like the designer to work around your current furniture set-up? Write all this down on a piece of paper!

Step 2: Determine what you are looking for. This really should be part of step 1, but I wanted to include it as an additional step. Write this down on a piece of paper as well. What are your priorities? For example, maybe the first priority is the living room. Maybe you need to see carpets, furniture, wallpaper, etc. Write this down as priority level 1 so you’ll know to ask about that when you interview designers.

Step 3: Interview. Call up a few interior designers and interview them all. The key is to listen to their opinion. Ask them what they would do in this room or that room and see how creative they are. Also see how much energy they put into each answer.

Step 4: Measure character fit. You need to make sure that their personality is a fit with your personality. Maybe there is just something you cannot stand about the designer. If this is the case, you may have to weigh it out. Sometimes people do such great jobs that the person’s annoying twitch can become bearable. Remember this is the person that is going to design the house that you’ll probably live in for the next 20 years of your life so choose wisely!
